How information is used on Melvin Markets.
Public reading and website operation
Published research and learning course previews are public. Full learning materials, including chapters, exercises, graphics and printable copies, require registration and sign-in with a free account. No paid subscription is required. This website is hosted on Vercel. Account and publication data are stored in PostgreSQL; uploaded charts use private object storage. An hourly hash of your IP address is temporarily stored to limit sign-up requests; expired hashes are removed on a subsequent sign-up request. No advertising or analytics tools are used.
Email registrations
If you join the email list, we store the email address you provide, the time of sign-up and consent, and a hashed unsubscribe token. Only the author can access the list. Registrations reserve a place for the newsletter launch. Email delivery and confirmation emails are not enabled yet.
After a new registration, save your personal unsubscribe link. Use it to remove your email at any time. If you lose the link, contact @melvinmarkets on X.
Comments and private support chat
Accounts use an email address, display name and sessions. Email and password accounts also store a securely hashed password. Email verification is required. Verification and password reset messages are sent through the configured email delivery provider. Session cookies are used to keep you signed in. For comments and chat messages, we store your account ID, chosen display name, message and posting time. Your email is not displayed to readers.
When Google sign-in is available and you choose it, Google authenticates you and shares your name, verified email address, profile image and Google account identifier. We store this identity and the authentication tokens needed for account access; your Google password stays with Google. Google registration does not subscribe you to the newsletter. See Google’s privacy policy for its processing.
Comments on public analyses are public. Private support chat requires an eligible paid membership and is a separate conversation between that member and the author. Other members cannot read the conversation. The chat is stored on the server and is not end-to-end encrypted. You can remove your own messages and the author can moderate messages. Removing a message clears its text and display name while retaining the hidden record identifier.
Paid subscriptions
If paid subscriptions are enabled, Stripe processes payments and subscription management. The website stores the account ID, Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, payment status and access period. Card details are handled by Stripe and are not stored by this website. Completed lesson identifiers and completion times are stored with your free account to show your learning progress; a subscription is not required. Personal worksheet answers are not collected by the learning pages. If you choose to include an answer in private chat, it is stored as part of that conversation. Subscription availability is shown on the membership page.
Public article formats
Published free research is available as web pages, RSS and JSON Feed. These public formats contain article text, public images, sources and dated updates. Subscriber records, email addresses, private drafts and private support conversations are not included.
Account and learning data
Your account stores the information needed for sign-in, email verification, sessions and membership. The public member counter shows only the total number of registered accounts, including accounts awaiting verification. It does not publish names, email addresses or account activity. Newsletter registrations and multiple sign-in providers do not add extra members. Lesson completion times are private to your account and the publisher. Contact the publisher to request access, correction or deletion of your information. Necessary payment records may have separate retention requirements.
